Wine, Shine, and Brew ….sounds fun….and you can find all three in the Smoky Mountains. Finding spirits in the Smokies is nothing new if you know of the many moonshine stories in the area. Popcorn Sutton is a hero of the area and the moonshine industry and his name is recognized worldwide. Popcorn and many other legends of the area started a truly legendary story of a time when moonshine became very popular. The name was derived from a tradition of creating alcohol during the nighttime, thereby avoiding detection. This history of moonshine is as fun as tasting it. When you visit the Smokies you will find many opportunities to try today’s moonshine, which is sold throughout the county.
Seeking out local wines and brews is also a popular thing to do when visiting the area. You will find local wineries in all three communities, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville. Establishments like Calhoun’s, Smoky Mountain Brewery, and the Casual Pint serve local beers you certainly will enjoy.
Allow us to share only a few of the great places to visit when you are in the Smoky Mountain Area.
Tours are available throughout the Smokies to experience the homemade Wines and Moonshines. One of our favorites to recommend is My Bigfoot Adventure, done by Jayson Maples, a multi-talented and well-informed local resident who customizes tours along with special tours he offers that are a blast. His Santa tour during Winterfest sells out. In March he does an Irish Themed Shenanigans tour and more, so you may enjoy looking up his Facebook page and website. https://www.mybigfootadventure.com

There are many opportunities for tours for wine and moonshine tasting. Search for the Rocky Top Wine Trail, Bigfoot Adventures, Moonshine Tours with the Redneck Comedy Bus Tours, and more. This is often a popular way to spend a few hours tasting the local flavors.
However, you choose to enjoy some spirits in the Smokies, be sure to do it safely. Many tours will pick you up at your location so no driving is needed by their guests. The opportunities for tasting go far beyond the locations we have chosen here. Travel to Wears Valley and Townsend Tennessee and see what you can find! Cades Cove Cellars is another popular stop!
We hope you discover some Wine, Shine and Brew you love and return again and again to enjoy it!
